Who is a mentor? What does he/she do? Who needs a mentor?
In the multicultural society where the European educational system operates, there is still a wide discrepancy about mentoring between the European main guidelines, (Lisbon strategy, Bologna process, cooperation programmes and so on…) and the national realities of education and training, in terms of opportunities and services provided addressing needs of disadvantaged adult learners.
Therefore, the learning partnership program contributes to narrow the above mentioned gap, setting up a framework of mutual learning and method exchange in the field of a cross-sectional topic, concerning formal, non-formal and informal education, social and work-related integration, development of key competences, fostering innovation in national education and training systems.
The partners belong to different fields of training and education. The greatest added value of this project is the variety of the partnership (schools, foundations and NGOs).
Regarding mentor's role we reached a common conclusion: there’s a great misunderstanding about mentoring in general, even if such professional figure is employed or foreseen to be employed in many European countries.
This is the reason why we are willing to share good practices about mentoring system at European level.
